since 1934
Inghams has been offering holidays that embrace getting out in nature for 90 years – so you know your next rambling adventure will be in safe hands
Back in 1934, inspired by his love of the great outdoors, Walter Ingham pioneered the ski holiday business and is known as ‘the man who took Britain skiing’. He then launched summer walking holidays, starting with group trips to France and Austria. And now, 90 years later, we’re still taking customers to the best viewpoints across Europe with Inghams Walking.
We do walking holidays, but differently. Our flexible stay-and-walk trips give you the freedom to do whatever you feel like. No set itineraries – just pick your base, unpack and explore. Starting and finishing in your resort on the same day means you won’t have to worry about multiple overnight stays or carrying all your kit. And whether you’re an experienced walker or you’ve just started to appreciate the joys of a gentle ramble, we’ll help you find the perfect destination to explore on foot.

Choose your base from our handpicked collection of the best walking destinations across Europe. We offer 76 resorts across eight destinations: Andorra, Austria, France, Italy, Madeira, Norway, Slovenia and Switzerland. We handle everything – from getting you there and a place to stay, to sharing the inside track on our favourite walks. Plus, you'll never be short of local secrets or must-visit lunch spots with Inghams destination experts in many of our resorts.
Want to explore breathtaking landscapes with an expert by your side? No problem! In selected destinations you can join up to two Inghams-exclusive, expert-led walks per week, all included in your holiday. Join a small group of fellow travellers and choose from one easy-to-moderate walk and one that’s a bit more challenging – or do both! Your local guide will be your go-to for anything you need to know, from taking you on hidden trails to sharing their love of nature and respect for the local landscape.
Relax, explore and walk as much as you choose – and still be back in time for dinner. Will you hike to the top for that epic view, or simply sip on a spritz in the sunshine? Your choice, your pace.
